Unit 4 "CLASSIFYING LIVING THINGS”
Estudiaremos cómo se clasifican los seres vivos en los 5 reinos
principales. Repasaremos los animales vertebrados e invertebrados, las
plantas y aprenderemos el grupo de las algas, hongos y bacterias. En esta
ficha se recoge el vocabulario y las estructuras que el alumnado debe
aprender junto con unos enlaces de vídeos que serán de utilidad para repasar
los contenidos estudiados.

All
living things are classified into five main groups: animals, plants, algae,
fungi and bacteria. (Todos los seres vivos
son clasificados en cinco grupos principales: animales, plantas, algas,
hongos y bacterias).

ANIMALS: (ANIMALES)

They feed on other living things. (Se
alimentan de otros seres vivos).

Most animals can move about. (La mayoría de
los animales pueden moverse).

Most of them can be seen with the naked eye. (La
mayoría pueden verse a simple vista).

PLANTS: (PLANTAS)
-
They make their own food. (Fabrican su
propia comida).

They cannot move about. (No pueden
desplazarse).

Most of them can be see wiht the naked eye. (La
mayoría pueden verse a simple vista).

ALGAE: (ALGAS)

They make their own food. (Fabrican su
propia comida).

They live in water. (Viven en el agua).

Some can be seen with the naked eye and others are very small and you need a
microscope to observe them. (Algunas pueden verse a simple vista y otras son muy pequeñas y se
necesita un microscopio para observarlas).

They can not move about, but they have not roots, stems or leaves. (No pueden desplazarse y tampoco tienen raíces, tallos ni hojas).

FUNGI: (HONGOS)

They feed on other living things. (Se alimentan de otros seres vivos).

They can not move about. (No pueden
desplazarse).

Some can be seen with the naked eye but others only with microscope. (Algunos pueden verse a simple vista pero otros sólo con microscopio).

Types: (Tipos)
+ Mushrooms: most of them have an umbrella
shape but they have also different shapes. (Hongos
con seta: la mayoría tienen forma de paraguas pero también pueden tener otras
formas).
+ Yeast: they are very small and you have
to use a microscope. They are used to make bread, wine or beer. (Levaduras: son muy pequeñas y tienes que usar un microscopio. Se usan
para fabricar pan, vino).
+ Moulds: they grow on some types of
decaying food such as fruit, bread or cheese. (Mohos:
crecen en algunos tipos de comida en descomposición como fruta, pan o queso).
* BACTERIA: (BACTERIA).

They can be found everywhere. (Están en todas partes).

They are the smallest and simplest living things. You need a microscope. (Son los seres vivos más pequeños y simples. Necesitas un microscopio).
- Some bacteria make their own food , others
feed on other living things. (Algunas
bacterias fabrican su propio alimento y otras se alimentan de otros seres
vivos).
- Some bacteria live inside other living
things and help the organisms to function well, for example yoghurt, vinegar
and medicines. Other bacteria can cause illnesses. (Algunas bacterias viven dentro de otros seres vivos y ayudan a que
los organismos funciones bien, por ejemplo el yogur, el vinagre y las
medicinas. Otras bacterias pueden provocar enfermedades).
