Unit 3 "WATER” En esta unidad estudiaremos la hidrosfera, las aguas continentales,los ríos de España en su vertiente cantábrica, atlántica y mediterránea. En esta ficha se recoge el vocabulario y las estructuras que el alumnado debe aprender junto con unos enlaces de vídeos que serán de utilidad para repasar los contenidos estudiados.

STRUCTURES
* The hydrosphere is one of the layer of the Earth. It is made up of all the water on Earth.  (La hidrosfera en una de las capas de la Tierra. Está formada por todo el agua de la Tierra.). * Most of the water  in the hydrosphere is salt water from the seas and oceans. (La mayoría del agua de la hidrosfera es agua salada proveniente de mares y océanos). * Fresh water comes from rivers, lakes and groundwater. (El agua dulce tiene su origen en ríos, lagos y agua subterránea). * Most of the fresh water is ice from glaciers, snow and the poles. (La mayor parte del agua dulce proviene de glaciares, la nieve y los polos). * Water in the seas and ocenas is in constant movement:  (El agua de los mares y océanos está en constante movimiento): a)       Waves are movements of water caused by the wind.     (Las olas son movimientos del agua provocados por el viento).                                       b)      Tides are the rising and falling of the sea level. (Las mareas son las subidas y bajadas del nivel del mar). c)        Ocean currents are movements caused by differences in temperature of the sea. (Las corrientes marinas son movimientos producidos por las diferencias de temperaturas del mar).                                       * Surface water is found on the surface of the Earth. (El agua superficial es encontrada en la superficie de la Tierra). * Groundwater is water that is deposited under ground. (El agua subterránea es agua depositada bajo la tierra). * A source is the place where a river begins. (Un nacimientos el lugar donde empieza un río). * A tributary is a river that flows into another river. (Un afluente es un río que desemboca en otro río). * An aquifer is a deposit of groundwater. (Un acuífero es un depósito de agua subterránea). * A lake is a deposit of fresh water. (Un lago es un depósito de agua dulce). * A river is a body of water in continuous movement that flows to the sea. (Un río es una corriente de agua en continuo movimiento que se desplaza hacia el mar). * The main parts of the river are the course, the channel and the flow regime. (Las tres principales partes del río son el curso, el cauce y el caudal). * The channel is the area that contains the flowing water of the river. (El cauce es el terreno por donde desciende el agua del río). * The course is the route the river takes. It has three parts: upper course, middle course and lower course. (El curso es el camino que hace el río. Tiene tres partes: curso alto, medio y bajo). * The flow regime is the amount of water the river carries. (El caudal es la cantidad de agua que lleva el río). * The river basin is an area of land drained by a river and its tributaries. (La cuenca es un terreno por el que discurre un río y sus afluentes).
